Which VR Headset Has the Best Games?

When you’re buying a virtual reality headset for gaming, you’ll want to consider a variety of different factors, but one of the most important might just be the selection of games available on each platform. After all, it’s no use having a fancy VR rig if there’s nothing good to play on it. The answer to which VR headset has the best games will depend in part on the types of games you like to play, but there is one key factor to consider: whether you’ll want to connect to a PC to get VR games.

No PC? It's All Good

If you don’t plan to connect your VR headset to a PC, you might be surprised to learn that the selection of games will be very similar no matter which app store you look at. Many of the most popular VR games are available across some of all of the different VR platforms, so you’ll find a good selection of top titles for all of them. Of course, if you have your eye on one specific game, it’s a good idea to double-check that it’s available for the headset you choose before you buy.

Using a PC? Take Your Pick (Almost)

Not only are most games available on all of the different systems, but most headsets can be plugged into your computer, too, which gives you full access to your Steam library and any games you purchased there. If you choose an Oculus, HTC, Steam Index, or HP headset, you can always start a free account on Steam and shop for VR-friendly games: You’ll be able to play them on any of those setups. But there is one exception.

What About the PS VR?

The PS VR is designed to be connected to a PlayStation console, not a PC. That means that you won’t be able to access your Steam library, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll be losing out on good games. In fact, PlayStation has come out with a variety of popular games that are exclusive to their console, such as Astro Bot Rescue MissionWipEout Omega Collection, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

The technology for all of the headsets may be different, but you’ll have plenty of games to choose from no matter which one interests you. In the end, it just comes down to personal preference: There’s no single headset that’s a clear winner when it comes to the selection of games available.
