Creating Pavlov Maps

Every once in a while, I get an itch to make a new fps map. I’ve never considered myself a talented fps level designer, but its something I have a lot of fun doing. I happen to be getting that itch again, so I’ve dedicated some time creating a Pavlov map.

Pavlov is a game I don’t think about much, but when I play I have a ton of fun. Who wouldn’t have fun in a VR 6v6 first person shooter. I’ve built maps for the game in the past, so I am familiar with the creation tools and game engine. The game uses a mod for the Unreal Game Engine and allows players to upload maps using Steam Workshop. I enjoy using Unreal. It always seems to make beautiful looking games.

My map is still a work in progress. I’ve tested gameplay with bots, but now its time to play with other players to get a real sense of the level. I’ll post some pictures below.

Even though Pavlov is an FPS shooter, I still consider it a social VR game. You can join real players, talk face to face, and exist in a VR environment. It may be unconventional to what we are labeling as social VR, but it very much fits the category. If you’re interested in building a Pavlov map, the Pavlov wiki s a good place to start.

Here are some pictures for the map I am creating. It is a small, three lane map, designed for 6v6 team deathmatch. One side of the map is an old abandoned diner, with the other side being an abandoned trailer home. The lanes surround a crashed UFO, where police have come to collect the wreckage.
